I have been teaching and composing for over forty years. I
have a degree in Creative Arts with a major in music
composition from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Before I finished my degree, I completed nine semesters of
piano under Dr. George Stegner at Queens College (now
Queens University). I studied basic harmony and composition in
private lessons from the late David Richey at Davidson
College and finished my last two years and my degree under
Thomas Turner at UNCC. I have been active in the North
Carolina Composers Alliance, and I have had my compositions
performed at Salem College, UNCC, and the Raleigh Museum.
I also composed the music to a musical, which was performed
locally. My students have performed many local recitals and
Guild auditions. I have also organized and performed in local
concerts for the North Carolina Composers Alliance. I am the
Vice President of the Iredell Concert Association, and I am
available to substitute as an organist or pianist, since I have
retired as Music Director at Harbor PCA.
